Christian Cobaugh

Christian Cobaugh has a strong background in the biotechnology industry, with a focus on research and development. Christian is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Vernal Biosciences, a position they have held since January 2021. Prior to that, they served as the VP of Process Development & Manufacturing at Omega Therapeutics from September 2019 to December 2020.

Before joining Omega Therapeutics, Cobaugh worked at Translate Bio as the Senior Director of Research Discovery & Process Development from January 2018 to August 2019. Christian also held the role of Director of Collaborative Research at CRISPR Therapeutics from February 2017 to January 2018.

Earlier in their career, Cobaugh worked at Arcturus Therapeutics as the Director of Drug Discovery from October 2015 to February 2017. Christian also had a brief stint as a Consultant at Discovery Strategies in August 2015.

Cobaugh spent a significant portion of their career at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. starting in June 2014 as a Research Scientist II in the RNA Therapeutics Unit until August 2015. Christian then became a Staff Scientist from January 2009 to June 2014.

Prior to their time at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Cobaugh worked as a Scientist at KaloBios from December 2007 to December 2009. Overall, they have amassed a diverse range of experience in various roles within the biotech field, showcasing their expertise in research, development, and leadership.

Christian Cobaugh pursued their education with dedication and passion, accumulating a strong background in scientific research and molecular studies. From 1997 to 1999, Cobaugh attended Northwestern University, where they obtained a Master of Science in Molecular Pharmacology. Building upon this foundation, they later enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin from 2001 to 2007, earning a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology. Cobaugh's educational journey demonstrates their commitment to understanding and exploring the intricacies of the molecular world.
