John Melville

John has over a decade of experience teaching at the university level, and he designed inquiry-based laboratory exercises and integrated data-collection technology in his courses. John received his B.A. in Biology and his B.A. in Psychology from Sonoma State University. He received his PhD in Zoology from Oregon State University, where his areas of research included animal behavior, extracellular recording techniques, neuronal tract tracing, immunohistochemistry, and confocal laser scanning microscopy.

Enjoying the network of rivers and wide variety of coastal areas that Oregon has to offer, John loves to kayak, stand-up paddle board, and surf. John is also a dedicated Portland Timbers soccer fan.
