After receiving his BS in Secondary Science Education from the University of Maryland, Nüsret taught chemistry and physics in Frederick County, Maryland, for 34 years. Nüsret received a Presidential Award for Science in 1991, and he has been certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in Secondary Science. For over 30 years, he taught using Vernier technology and helped many other teachers integrate Vernier technology into their curriculum.
Since the early 1990s, Nüsret sponsored a Chemistry Club at his school where students brought science-related activities and demonstrations out to the community. Nüsret can be found volunteering at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry or enjoying the coffee scene here in Portland.
