Thomas Van Tasel is a seasoned law enforcement professional with extensive experience in criminal investigations and police union leadership. Currently serving as a Detective at the Vernon Police Department since April 2010, Thomas has specialized in investigating serious and complex crimes, including violent offenses, crimes against children, financial crimes, narcotics, and digital/mobile forensics. Additionally, Thomas has held the role of President of the Vernon Police Association since April 2020, representing 50 sworn personnel and demonstrating expertise in conflict resolution, collective bargaining, and employee representation. Prior to their current roles, Thomas served as a Sergeant at the Suffield Police Department from March 2003 to April 2010, where responsibilities included supervising patrol shifts and training new officers. Thomas holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Central Connecticut State University.
