Mukul Katiyar has extensive work experience in the field of networking and software engineering. Mukul currently holds the position of Distinguished Engineer at Versa Networks since December 2017. Previously, they worked at Juniper Networks as a Principal Engineer from July 2014 to December 2017, where they played a key role in rearchitecting and reinventing the SRX and MX-services product lines.
Prior to that, Mukul worked at Nuage Networks as a Principal Engineer from February 2012 to July 2014. There, they were a founding engineer and architect for the MP-BGP based distributed and redundant SDN controller (VSC). Mukul also contributed towards EVPN standardization in IETF and played a vital role in implementing BGP EVPN for distributed Virtual Routing and Switching Services (dVRS) for multi-tenant data centers.
Before joining Nuage Networks, Mukul worked at Juniper Networks as a Staff Engineer from September 2006 to February 2012. During their tenure, they were responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing the flow-based data path for SRX-series stateful firewalls. Mukul also implemented various datapath features and security services.
Earlier in their career, Mukul held positions at Matisse Networks as a Principal Engineer from January 2004 to April 2006, where they worked on admission control, traffic classes, scheduling, and buffer management for a distributed switch. Mukul also contributed to architecture, design, and implementation of L2/L3 switching, MAC learning, Q-in-Q, Traffic Management, and QoS.
Prior to Matisse Networks, Mukul worked at Innovance Networks as a Senior Software Systems Engineer from September 2001 to December 2003. Mukul designed constraint-based and diverse heuristic routing algorithms, wavelength assignment, and optical trail engineering for all-optical switch/ROADM for an ultra-long-haul optical transport network. Mukul also worked on the GMPLS-based optical control plane architecture.
Before joining Innovance Networks, Mukul worked at Luxcore Networks as a Senior Traffic Engineer (Algorithms & Software systems) from January 2001 to September 2001. There, they developed constraint-based diverse routing algorithms and analyzed stochastic models of switch fabrics for all-optical wavelength switches.
Mukul's career began at Cplane, Inc as a Senior Software Engineer from December 1999 to December 2000, where they focused on software engineering.
Prior to that, they worked at Trillium Digital Systems as a Senior Member of Technical Staff from July 1997 to October 1999, where they worked on ATM signaling stack, interworking, and high availability. Mukul also designed MPLS LDP/CR-LDP signaling software.
Mukul's early experience includes working at Duet Technologies Inc as a Member of Technical Staff from May 1996 to June 1997, where they developed ATM signaling software.
Overall, Mukul Katiyar has showcased strong technical skills and expertise in network architecture, software development, and innovation throughout their career.
Mukul Katiyar obtained their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from COEP Technological University. Mukul attended this institution from 1990 to 1994. Later, they pursued a Master of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Communication Systems from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Mukul'spostgraduate studies took place from 1994 to 1996.
