Konstantin Deutsch

Konstantin Deutsch, MD, currently holds the position of Vertex Physician Investigator and Associate Medical Director at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, starting in August 2024. Prior to this role, Konstantin served as a Senior Scientist in Discovery Research at Variant Bio from April 2022 to July 2024, focusing on identifying therapeutic targets for kidney and inflammatory diseases. Konstantin's experience includes a significant tenure at Boston Children's Hospital as a George B. Rathmann Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow from July 2018 to February 2022, where innovative monogenic causes of kidney disease were investigated through whole exome sequencing. Konstantin has also worked at Harvard Medical School during the same period and previously practiced nephrology as a Medical Doctor at Medizinische Hochschule Hannover from January 2016 to April 2018. The academic background includes a medical degree and medical license from Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, obtained between 2008 and 2015, alongside early research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at The Jackson Laboratory and MDI Biological Laboratory from 2011 to 2012.
