Michelle Chang

Michelle Chang is a Principal Scientific Associate at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where responsibilities include optimizing a novel cell therapy process aimed at differentiating embryonic stem cells into pancreatic islet cells for Type 1 Diabetes treatment. Leading a team of four, Michelle is focused on process characterization studies in preparation for upcoming process performance qualification runs and a biologics license application. Previous roles include Senior Scientific Associate at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Teaching Assistant at The Johns Hopkins University, Research Assistant in the Dendrimer Nanomedicine Research Group, and Research and Development Intern at Sherwin-Williams. Michelle holds a Master of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Psychology from The Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, a solid foundation in mathematics was established at the University of Minnesota, complemented by a High School Gold Cord Diploma from Eden Prairie High School.
