Mireia Sidera Portela

Mireia Sidera Portela is an accomplished chemist with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Currently serving as Associate Director at Vertex Pharmaceuticals since February 2018, Mireia has held various roles including Principal Scientist and Research Scientist. Prior to this, Mireia was a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Oxford, focusing on asymmetric catalysis and synthesis. At the University of Barcelona, Mireia contributed as a Research Assistant in the total synthesis of Palmerolide A and served as an Assistant Professor for 180 hours in experimental subjects. Mireia's educational background includes a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Universitat de Barcelona, along with a Postdoc from the University of Oxford. Notably, Mireia also gained experience as a Visiting Student at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Ian Paterson, working on the total synthesis of Jiadifenolide.
