Peter Jones

Peter Jones is an experienced medicinal chemist currently serving as the Executive Director and Head of Medicinal Chemistry at Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Oxford, UK, since September 2017. Prior to this role, Peter held several positions at Vertex, including Senior Director and Director of Medicinal Chemistry. From May 2005 to September 2017, Peter worked at Pfizer as an Associate Research Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry. Earlier in the career, Peter served as a Senior Scientist at Genesoft Pharmaceuticals in the San Francisco Bay Area, specializing in drug design and synthesis. Peter's academic background includes a Postdoctoral degree in Synthetic Chemistry from Stanford University, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, and an M.Chem. in Chemistry from The University of Manchester.
