Enzo Acerbi has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries, from technology to nutrition. Enzo is currently working as the Co-Founder of Vertical Oceans, where they utilize IoT sensors, data science, machine learning, and bioinformatics to model and predict the behavior of biological complex systems and develop sustainable protein production methods.
Prior to this, Enzo co-founded NLYTICS Microbiomes in 2019, focusing on specialized data science solutions for human health and nutrition. Enzo developed machine learning algorithms for multi-omics clinical data, real world evidence, and medical/wearable devices.
Enzo also served as the Principal Data Scientist (Team Lead) at AgriProtein from 2020 to 2021. In this role, they led the data science and data management function in research and development across global centers, as well as overseeing the implementation of a factory software integrating multiple data sources for operational insights.
During their time at Danone from 2017 to 2020, Enzo worked as a Senior Data Scientist and Open Innovation Lead at the Precision Nutrition Digital Lab. Enzo delivered data analytics and predictive modeling solutions for large clinical trial datasets and digital health monitoring devices for infants.
Enzo's expertise in machine learning and bioinformatics was also utilized during their tenure as a Machine Learning & Bioinformatics Scientist at SCELSE Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, where they worked on the characterization of the microbial composition of air in Singapore.
Before that, Enzo worked as a Computational Biologist and Ph.D. candidate in Translational and Molecular Medicine at A*STAR - Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN). Their research focused on predicting gene regulatory networks using continuous time probabilistic models, generating new knowledge in the field of human immunology.
Enzo's earlier experience includes working as a Text Mining Analyst at Intelligent Dialogue Systems, developing machine learning approaches for conversational agents.

Enzo Acerbi completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia in the years 2003 to 2006. Enzo then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science from Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, which they completed from 2007 to 2010. Enzo furthered their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Translational and Molecular Medicine from Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca from 2011 to 2014.
