Panos D. Kouris

Panos D. Kouris has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Panos D. co-founded Vertoro, a global R&D organization, where they served as the CTO and was responsible for driving innovation and technology agenda. Panos D. also oversaw the scaling-up of Vertoro's technology portfolio. Panos D. participated in the Brightlands Innovation Factory Acceleration program during their time at Vertoro.

Prior to Vertoro, Panos worked at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven as a Doctoral Candidate, where they focused on developing a bio-refinery for lignin. Panos D. also held the positions of Research Associate and Postdoctoral research fellow at the university.

Panos also worked at Chemelot InSciTe, where they served as a Postdoc research fellow and Work Leader, contributing to biomass-to-lignin oil and lignin-to-lignin oil processes. Panos D. gained experience as a Junior Process Engineer at Food-Incontext Consultancy.

Early in their career, Panos was a Postgraduate Researcher/MSc Student Assistant at Eindhoven University of Technology and an Undergraduate Researcher at University of Patras. Panos D. also gained industry experience as a Process Engineer Intern at Unilever.

Panos D. Kouris began their education in 2002 at the 3rd General High School of Kalamata, where they obtained their School Certificate with a focus on the Science Direction, specifically in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Panos D. then attended the University of Patras from 2006 to 2012, where they pursued a Combined BSc & MSc degree in Chemical Engineering. Following this, from 2013 to 2015, Kouris studied at Eindhoven University of Technology, earning a Master of Science in Engineering (MSc) in Chemical and Process Engineering. Panos D. continued their studies at the same institution, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from 2015 to 2021.
