Cleber Trujillo

Associate Director, Stem Cell Biology at Vesalius Therapeutics

Cleber Trujillo has extensive experience in stem cell biology and neuroscience. Cleber began their career in 2005 as a PhD Student at the Universidade de São Paulo, where they published the first paper showing Kallikrein-Kinin System plays critical roles in neurogenesis. In 2011, they joined the University of California San Diego as an Associate Project Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they took advantage of reprogramming technologies to generate induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to recapitulate early stages of the human brain development and pathological conditions. In 2020, they moved to StemoniX as Lead Sr. Neuroscientist, where they utilized a human-powered approach to drug discovery. Currently, Cleber Trujillo is the Associate Director, Stem Cell Biology at Vesalius Therapeutics, where they develop patient-derived, cell-based experimental models to screen and characterize drug candidates to restore genetic circuits to healthy functioning.

Cleber Trujillo attended USP - Universidade de São Paulo from 2005 to 2011, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Cleber is currently enrolled at the University of California, San Diego - School of Medicine, where they are studying Stem Cells and Neuroscience.
