Derren Burrell, CDFM, AIF®, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Derren is currently the Founder and Managing Partner of Veteran Ventures Capital, LLC, a position they have held since January 2018. In this role, they oversee the operations and strategic direction of the company.

Prior to starting their own venture, Burrell worked at the George W. Bush Presidential Center as a Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program Scholar starting from May 2021. Before that, they served as the Principal & Chief Financial Officer of True Victory, a sportswear and streetwear brand founded and operated by U.S. military veterans. Derren played a vital role in building the brand and managing the financial aspects of the business.

Burrell also gained extensive experience in the field of finance and operations. Derren served as the Chief Operating Officer of TAG Resources, LLC from July 2015 to December 2019. Before that, they worked as a Resource Director at the White House Communications Agency, where they managed financial and contract management aspects in support of the President, Vice President, First Lady, and senior White House staff.

Their previous roles also include Resource Director at the NATO Training Mission - Afghanistan, Deputy Director of Resources at the United States Forces - Iraq (USF-I), and Headquarters Air Combat Command Financial Management Directorate in the United States Air Force. At these positions, they were responsible for budget planning, financial management, and overseeing the activities of finance teams.

Burrell holds a Masters of Science in Cost Analysis and has a strong background in statistics, quantitative decision-making, economics, cost management, finance, and forecasting. Derren has demonstrated their ability to lead and manage financial operations in complex and challenging environments.

Derren Burrell, CDFM, AIF®, has a strong educational background with various degrees and certifications. Derren first attended The Citadel from 1990 to 1994 where they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After serving in the military, they pursued further education and attained a Master's degree in Professional Military Education Global Security / National Policy from Air War College in the year 2011.

In 2005 to 2007, Derren Burrell studied at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, specializing in Cost Analysis, resulting in another Masters degree. Additionally, from 1994 to 1996, they attended Central Michigan University, earning a Masters degree in Human Resources.

To supplement their educational achievements, Derren Burrell has also obtained several certifications. In 2001, they became a Certified Defense Financial Manager through the American Society of Military Comptrollers. In 2014, they completed the OSD Financial Management Certification Program Level 3 by OSD. Furthermore, they obtained the Accredited Investment Fiduciary certification from Fi360 in May 2017. Lastly, they hold a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do since June 2016, although the institution is unspecified.
