Nancy Nystrom has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Nancy began their career as Chief of Inpatient Pharmacy at the United States Air Force's Wright Patterson Medical Center from 1994 to 1997. Following this role, they served as the Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor at Maine Medical Center from 2000 to 2005.
In 2008, Nancy joined Waldo County General Hospital as a Clinical Pharmacist, where they played a pivotal role in various areas, including developing and monitoring drug library usage, leading the pharmacy team during the implementation of the Epic system with PYXIS integration, and providing clinical support to the medical staff and nursing team. During their tenure at Waldo County General Hospital, they also implemented a pharmacy tech medication history service.
After seven years at Waldo County General Hospital, Nancy transitioned to Maine Medical Center and assumed the position of the Medical Transitions Pharmacy Supervisor in 2014. In this role, they supervised the pharmacy department's medication transitions activities.
Most recently, Nancy has been working at Virginia Hospital Center, starting in 2019. Nancy began as the Pharmacy Operations Manager until January 2021 when they were promoted to Senior Director of Pharmacy.

Nancy Nystrom completed their education at the University of Rhode Island from 1987 to 1994, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy from Northeastern University, where they studied from 1982 to 1987. In addition to their formal education, Nancy has obtained various certifications in areas such as developing leaders, diabetes, leadership, ambulatory care board certification, and medication therapy management.
