Demetrio Cardenas currently serves as the QA/QI Director and Senior PA-C at Via Care Community Health Center since August 2021. Prior to this role, Cardenas was an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA's School of Nursing from March 2018 to August 2021 and worked as a Physician Assistant at St. John's Well Child & Family Center from October 2016 to August 2021, focusing on family practice and serving as a provider onboarding and mentorship lead. Cardenas gained extensive clinical experience through various positions, including roles in family practice, orthopedics, pediatrics, and internal medicine during student placements at multiple healthcare facilities. Cardenas holds a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant and Public Health from Touro University California, as well as a Master's in Financial Engineering from Kent State University and a Bachelor's in Economics with minors in Physics and Mathematics from San Jose State University.

Via Care is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in East LA providing exceptional care to patients in our service area throughout their lives. Headquartered in East Los Angeles, Via Care operates 14 clinics in East LA and South Gate, including student health centers at East LA College, West LA College, LA Trade Tech College, Rio Hondo College, and a school-based wellness center at Garfield High School.
