Volkan Kurtas

Mr. Kurtas is the founder of DFG and serves as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer. Prior to founding DFG, he launched the New York-based structured credit portfolio management effort for the Active Credit Portfolio Management Group of HVB, as well as built and managed the bank’s first CLO Equity portfolio.

Prior to HVB, Mr. Kurtas was the Head of the Risk and Analytics Team at UNIQA Alternative Investments GmbH (UAI), a structured credit asset management firm based in Vienna. He was a member of the team that managed over $1bn CLO assets predominantly focused on Junior and Mezzanine CLO tranches and a sizable portfolio of European assets; he was also responsible for all quantitative analysis of primary and secondary CLO deals. Mr. Kurtas developed quantitative and risk management models, re-engineering tools, and managed various teams of quantitative and systems personnel in his previous roles.

Since 2002, Mr. Kurtas has analyzed hundreds of CLOs focusing on junior and mezzanine tranches in the U.S. and Europe and developed strong relationships with leading investment banks, asset managers, investors and agencies.

Mr. Kurtas holds a B.S. in physics from Bilkent University, Turkey, and has attended graduate studies in finance at Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna, Austria.
