Katharyn Duffy has extensive work experience in the field of science operations and environmental informatics. Katharyn is currently the Director of Science Operations at Vibrant Planet, where they have been since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Northern Arizona University as an Adjunct Faculty member and Seminar Coordinator for the EcoInformatics Seminar Series. Katharyn also served as a Course Instructor for various courses related to interdisciplinary research and environmental informatics. Additionally, Katharyn worked as an Open Source Software Engineer at Northern Arizona University, where they developed open-source software for vegetation greenness data analysis. In 2021, they were a Verra Methodology Lead Author for the National Forest Foundation, focusing on fire-adapted forest management. Overall, Katharyn has a strong background in science operations, interdisciplinary research, and environmental informatics.

Katharyn Duffy obtained a Master's degree in Climate Science and Solutions from Northern Arizona University during the period of 2011 to 2012. Following this, they pursued further education at the same institution and completed their Ph.D in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from 2013 to 2018.
