Jim Round

Jim Round has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Jim began their career as the Editor of Farrago, the University of Melbourne Student Newspaper, in 2005. Following that, they worked as an Economic Analyst at Deloitte Insight Economics, where they managed projects and prepared reports on economic policy issues. In 2008, Jim served as an Economic Adviser to the Hon Julia Gillard MP, Prime Minister, and later as the Chief of Staff to the Hon Mark Dreyfus QC MP, leading a team of nineteen staff in the Attorney General's office.

In 2014, Jim pursued postgraduate study at the London School of Economics and Political Science, focusing on economic history, econometrics, and history of firms and industries. Jim then joined the Department of Health and Human Services in Victoria as the Executive Director of System Intelligence and Analytics. In 2017, they became the Director of Planning and Development at the Office of the Premier.

From 2019 to 2022, Jim held various roles at the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, including Deputy Secretary of Industry Coordination and Recovery. In this position, they managed large teams, developed policies to assist economic recovery, and oversaw grant programs. Currently, Jim is the Chief Executive Officer of VicReturn, a position they assumed in 2023.

Jim Round completed their education with a Master's Degree in Economic History (Research) from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees from the University of Melbourne from 2001 to 2006. Jim'ssecondary education was completed at Melbourne High School from 1997 to 2000.
