Eric L. Burk

Eric L. Burk, CPA has a strong background in finance and accounting. Eric L. started their career as an Auditor at Miller, Cooper & Co., Ltd. in 1999 and worked there until 2004. Eric L. then joined the Village of Palatine as an Accounting Manager, where they implemented GASB Statement No. 34 and maintained general ledger and subsidiary account records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. In 2006, Eric joined the Village of Deerfield, initially serving as the Assistant Finance Director. In this role, they administered and maintained the Village ERP system (MUNIS) and managed a team responsible for utility billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and accounting. Eric L. also assisted in the preparation of the annual budget. Later on, they became the Acting Director of Finance and eventually assumed the role of Director of Finance/Treasurer. Eric's experience spans over 20 years, showcasing their expertise and knowledge in finance and accounting.

Eric L. Burk, CPA obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting from Illinois State University from 1995 to 1999. Eric L. then pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance at Northern Illinois University from 2004 to 2006.

Additionally, Eric has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. In 1999, they became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through The Board of Examiners University of Illinois. Subsequently, in 2006, they completed the Authorized Agent Certification Program through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Eric then acquired the status of Registered CPA from the State of Illinois in 2009.

Further bolstering their credentials, Eric achieved the Certified Pension Trustee certification from Judson University (IPPAC) in 2011. In 2012, they obtained the Certified Public Finance Officer certification from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). Lastly, in 2023, they successfully completed the Intuit Academy Bookkeeping Exam conducted by QuickBooks Company.
