Mick Smith

Mick Smith has a strong background in fire and emergency services, with a focus on leadership positions. Mick began their career as the Acting Fire Chief for Robbins, Village of in 2014. In 2019, they became the Fire Chief for Phoenix, Village of, where they served until 2022. During this time, they successfully coordinated fire and EMS classes and developed new courses at South Suburban College. Prior to that, they also held the role of Fire Chief for Riverdale, Village of. Currently, Mick Smith is serving as the Fire Chief for the Village of Richton Park, IL, starting in 2022. Throughout their career, they have shown a dedication to collaborating with local fire departments and hospitals.

Mick began their academic journey in 2006 at Moraine Valley Community College, where they pursued an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Fire Service Management, completing it in 2018. In 2010, they attended Dillard University and focused on Executive Development in the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute, earning recognition for their accomplishments in 2015.

Continuing their education, Mick Smith then enrolled at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in 2017. Here, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Public Safety Management, which they successfully completed in 2019. Building upon their knowledge and skills, they subsequently engaged in further academic pursuits at the same university, obtaining a Master's degree in Homeland Security from 2019 to 2021.
