Kate Portillo

Kate Portillo, AICP, currently serves as Planning Manager for the Village of Skokie since September 2024. Prior to this role, Kate worked as Village Planner for the Village of Brookfield, Illinois, where responsibilities included land use regulation, project management, and collaboration across various community development functions. Kate's experience also includes serving as Staff Planner III at Manhard Consulting, where contributions focused on zoning analysis and municipal support, as well as an internship in community development with the Village of Northfield. Earlier career roles in retail management and consulting provided extensive skills in customer service and team leadership. Educational achievements include a Master's Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Science with a double major from Western Illinois University.
