Tami Middleton

Director, Human Resources at Village Shalom

Tami joined the Village Shalom team as a contractor in October 2009. We liked her so much she came on permanently less than a month later. Tami’s a seasoned HR pro, so she has the essential roles of a human resources director (principal, counselor and shoulder to cry on) down to a science. She’s a certified PHR and national member of SHRM. She considers herself to be task-oriented and results-driven – but mentoring and building positive, lasting relationships is what keeps her coming back day after day.

Tami is originally from Kansas City, but she (like most military brats) spent a great deal of her childhood moving from state-to-state. She eventually found her way to Massachusetts in the late-‘80s, where she caught the HR bug. That’s also where she was swooned by the “wicked” Boston accent of her husband, James. Tami spent 20 years living and working in “Taxachusetts” until she eventually tired of the East Coast rat race and (after much convincing) managed to talk her husband and daughter into moving back home to KC.

Tami loves to travel – especially to Hawaii (who wouldn’t?). She’s also a music buff who loves ‘80s and jazz. She also boasts the ability to name that tune in two bars – so keep her in mind if you’re looking for a music trivia partner.
