Lucia Fernandez, PhD, is the Head of Manufacturing and Technology at VintaBio, where the mission is to ensure universal access to gene therapies. Previously, Lucia served as Associate Director of Viral Vector Tech Transfer at the Center for Breakthrough Medicines and held various roles at Merck, including Senior Scientist and Associate Scientist in Engineering, as well as a Manufacturing Science & Technology Intern. Academic experience includes an undergraduate research assistant position at the University of Maryland, focusing on 3D printed microcubes, and an R&D Engineering Intern role at MTF, contributing to novel scaffold development. Lucia holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering and a Master of Science in Biochemical Engineering, both from Villanova University.
