Alex Handy

Alex Handy has worked in a variety of positions in the technology and media industries. In 2009, they co-founded and served as a trustee for the African Innovation Prize, a social enterprise that awarded over £25,000 in awards directly to students, operating in 3+ African geographies with ~5 full / part-time employees and providing year-round support to 1000s of university students. In 2012, they began working as a Senior Consultant at Booz & Company, specializing in technology and media projects. In 2015, they founded VsportR, a virtual reality (VR) prototype for an immersive sports video platform, and expanded it into an international consultancy providing services across strategy, product and software development and venture investment assessment. In 2017, they worked as a Group Strategy Manager for Sky. In 2018, they joined MTM London as an Engagement Manager and Data Science Lead. In 2020, they became a Senior Research Fellow and Data Scientist at University College London, leading a research programme focused on building computational systems that use large, diverse datasets and artificial intelligence to improve healthcare decisions. Finally, in 2022, they joined Vira Health as the Head of Data Science, where they are responsible for generating value from data across the business.

Alex Handy completed a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Alex'story and Management from the University of Cambridge between 2008 and 2011. Alex then went on to pursue a Masters of Science in Neuroscience from King's College London from 2018 to 2020. Alex also attended Makers, however no degree or field of study was specified.
