Matthew Vest has diverse work experience in the medical and military fields. Matthew started their career in 2017 as a Platoon Leader in the US Army, where they later became an Executive Officer and then a Transportation Manager. In 2023, they joined the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, initially working as an Emergency Medical Technician and advancing to the role of Captain of Operations. Matthew is currently serving as the President of the organization. Matthew also has experience as an Advanced EMT and an Operations Manager at Coastal Event Medical Management.

Matthew Vest earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, completing their education between 2013 and 2017. In addition, they have obtained several certifications in emergency medical services, including Advanced EMT from the VA Office of EMS in March 2023, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in March 2022, Advanced EMT from the North Carolina OEMS in January 2022, EMT from NYS DOH in November 2013, and EMT from NCOEMS in June 2013.
