Eric Stewart is an optometrist currently employed at the Virginia Eye Institute since August 2023. Prior to this role, Eric completed an optometry residency at the John-Kenyon American Eye Institute, gaining experience in a multi-location OD-MD referral center specializing in glaucoma, retina, and cornea. Eric has also held positions as a clinical extern at both Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers and Southern College of Optometry, focusing on patient care in high-volume and diverse optometry settings. Additional clinical externships at Family Vision Care and Southern College of Optometry provided further experience in comprehensive eye exams and specialized patient management. Eric began the professional journey as an optometric technician at Horvath Vision Care, where duties included scheduling patient exams and verifying insurance information. Education includes a Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University.

All optometrists and ophthalmologists at VEI are board-certified and many are fellowship-trained. VEI eyewear locations provide board-certified opticians and contact lens fitters. VEI also owns and operates an out-patient Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). VEI’s optical shops are ranked as one of the nation’s “50 Best Optical Shops”. VEI also has an Aesthetic Center in Short Pump performing remarkable cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries by our fellowship-trained specialists.
