Tom E. Cohen, who is also chair of the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Board of Directors, is a communications and marketing consultant. He retired from Microsoft in 2007. During his 14 year tenure there, he was in management roles that oversaw corporate media services, business development and marketing of cable television transmission software, as well as content development, acquisition and placement of their online news service. Prior to that, Cohen held various operational and management positions with KOMO TV (ABC) for 16 years. In 2014 and 2015, he served as vice president of content for KCTS 9 (PBS). While with the Seattle-based Public Broadcasting Service affiliate, Cohen was chair of the Board and Executive Committee and served on the Development Committee. He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Washington.
