Vernon Tillage

Vernon Tillage serves as a City Council Member for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, since January 2023, while also holding the position of Community Affairs Coordinator at Virginia Natural Gas since November 2021. Previously, Tillage was a School Board Member for Portsmouth Public Schools from January 2021 to December 2022 and worked as an Outreach and Advocacy Consultant for the Hampton Roads Alliance from September 2019 to November 2021. Additional experience includes serving as an Outreach Representative for the United States Senate from April to August 2019, Chief of Staff for the Commonwealth of Virginia from January 2017 to March 2019, Deputy Clerk for Portsmouth Circuit Court from September 2016 to January 2017, and a School Bus Driver for Portsmouth Public Schools from February 2013 to January 2017. Tillage earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from Old Dominion University in 2016 and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at the same institution.
