Kirk Johnson

Kirk Johnson has an extensive background in renewable energy and governmental relations, currently serving as a Board Member and Officer for the Virginia Renewable Energy Alliance since August 2020. Previously, Johnson held the position of Senior Vice President of Member Engagement at Old Dominion Electric Cooperative from February 2019 to November 2024, and served on the Board of Directors for both the Virginia Clean Energy Advisory Board and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce from 2021 to 2024. Johnson's earlier career includes a long tenure at NRECA, where roles included Senior Vice President of Government Relations and various leadership positions in energy and environmental policy from December 2001 to January 2019. Prior to that, Johnson worked for U.S. Senator Kent Conrad, focusing on legislative duties from July 1993 to December 2001. Johnson holds a BA in Political Science/International Relations from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and completed studies at the University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs.
