Virginia Sowers

Virginia Sowers is an experienced communications professional with a strong background in editorial and content management. Currently serving as the Communications Strategy Manager at the Virginia Retirement System since December 2013, Virginia oversees communications for retirement plans for public sector employees in Virginia. Previous roles include Manager of Content & Editorial Services at ChildFund International, where assistance was provided to children in 30 countries, and Writer-Editor positions at the CTE Resource Center and Virginia Vocational Curriculum and Resource Center. Virginia also held the role of Vice President-Editorial Director at Douglas Murphy Communications Inc., where management of editorial and production operations was key. Earlier experience includes positions as Managing Editor at the Textile Rental Services Association and Editor at the National Society of Professional Engineers. Virginia Sowers holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Radford University and a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University.
