Shannon Kelly

VP, Development at Virginia Symphony Orchestra

Shannon Kelly currently serves as Vice President of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra since January 2023 and has been with the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts since July 2016, holding positions as Director and Senior Director of Government Affairs. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Advocacy for the National Association for Music Education from August 2012 to April 2016 and as a Teaching Assistant at New England Conservatory from September 2011 to May 2012, where Shannon instructed an undergraduate course in Voice for Non-Majors. As a Schweitzer Fellow from April 2011 to May 2012, music outreach and education provided to residents at Susan Bailis Assisted Living was a key focus. Earlier roles include Health Development Officer at the Public Health Institute, with a tenure at the US Agency for International Development, and Program Analyst for the Department of Health and Human Services. Shannon holds a Master of Music in Performance from the New England Conservatory, a Master's degree in Public Policy Analysis from American University, and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Virginia.

Virginia Symphony Orchestra

The Virginia Symphony is at the center of the Hampton Roads arts community, and in many ways serves as the cultural cornerstone for the region. Each year, the orchestra presents a series of Classics, Pops and Family concerts in Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg and Virginia Beach.
