Matthew Bigman's work experience starts in 2008 when they worked as an Office Assistant at Bigman Consulting Services. During their time there, they conducted research for client meetings and provided recommendations for investment options, as well as organized statements and reports for clients.
In 2008, Bigman also worked as a Tutor at the WPI Writing Center. Matthew'sresponsibilities included coaching students to improve their writing skills, designing and distributing ads for the writing center, and marketing writing center services to professors.
In 2009, Bigman worked as a Major Qualifying Project (MQP) at ECHN, where they developed and tested a system dynamics model for a hospital nursing unit. Matthew analyzed supply usage and identified gaps in data gathering and feedback techniques, offering alternative solutions.
From 2010 to 2011, Bigman worked at Systematic Solutions, Inc. as an Energy & Environmental Simulation Modeler. Matthew also had a temporary contract in the same role in 2010. Matthew'sresponsibilities included modeling and simulating energy and environmental systems.
Bigman pursued a Masters in System Dynamics at the European Masters in System Dynamics from 2012 to 2014.
Since 2015, Bigman has been working at Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation. Matthew started as a Senior Research Analyst and was responsible for running facilitation events with SMEs and organizations to engage critical thinking and develop options. Matthew also supported studies and analyses to define and address critical problems. In March 2022, they took on the role of Project Manager.
Matthew Bigman has a diverse educational background. Matthew started their higher education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in System Dynamics from 2005 to 2009.
Later, Matthew pursued a Double Degree at Radboud University from 2012 to 2014. During this time, they simultaneously pursued an MSci in Business Administration and an MPhil in System Dynamics. Matthew'sfield of study focused on Business Administration and Management, as well as System Dynamics.
In 2012, Matthew also participated in a Double Degree program at the University of Bergen (UiB), where they pursued an MBA and an MPhil in System Dynamics.
Furthermore, they attended Università degli Studi di Palermo in 2013, where they concurrently pursued an MBA and an MPhil in System Dynamics.
Aside from their formal education, Matthew has also obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. These certifications include "Mastering Design Thinking" from Emeritus in October 2022, "Writing in the Sciences" from Coursera in July 2022, "Facilitation Skills Certificate" from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) in February 2021, "SQL for Data Science" from Coursera in June 2019, "Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification" from Syracuse University in January 2018, and "Project Management Professional (PMP)" from the Project Management Institute in February 2020.
