Heather Sorrell

Heather Sorrell is an experienced higher education professional currently serving as the Director of Student Support Services for the Virginia Community College System since March 2013, where responsibilities include overseeing compliance with admissions, records, and various student services across 23 colleges. Previously, Heather held positions such as Associate Director of Enrollment Management and Student Support and Coordinator of Student Affairs, contributing significantly to policy interpretation and reporting. Heather’s early career includes roles at John Tyler Community College, including Adjunct Instructor of Psychology and Instructional Designer, as well as serving as an Educational Support Specialist and Academic Advisor. Heather's background also includes management experience at Pizza Hut. Academically, Heather earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Community College Education from Old Dominion University and holds multiple degrees in Psychology, Library and Information Science, and Database Design.
