Jiang Xu began their career in 2011 as a Research Assistant at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. From 2012 to 2014, they were a PhD Student at the University of Waterloo and Solvay. In 2016, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at ESPCI Paris Tech & Shell, where they investigated the fundamental clogging mechanism of Asphaltene in crude oil and used nanotechnology to prevent its deposition and improve petroleum production. In 2017, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at ESPCI. In 2018, they were a Postdoc Research Fellow at Ryerson University and a Research Associate at St. Michael's Hospital, where they investigated fundamental microfluidic mechanics of break-ups of droplets and generated nanobubbles from microfluidics. In 2019, they were a Postdoc Research Fellow at Harvard University, where they worked on high throughput microfluidic chip. In 2020, they were a Principal Scientist at Boston Molecules, where they were funded by the NIH RADx program as a PI on a rapid COVID-19 diagnostics project. Currently, Jiang Xu is a Senior Scientist at Virogin Biotech, where they are leading a new research group on drug encapsulation and formulation.
Jiang Xu's education history includes a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Polymer Science and Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology from 2007 to 2011, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biomedical Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2011 to 2012, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nanotechnology from the University of Waterloo from 2013 to 2016, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physical Chemistry from Université de Bordeaux from 2012 to 2016. In 2010, Jiang Xu also attended a Summer School in Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. In addition, Jiang Xu has obtained various certifications from Harvard University, including Lab COVID-19 Awareness Training (2021), Authorship and Publication (HMS RCR) (2021), Scientific Citizenship (HMS RCR) (2021), General Laboratory Safety (2020), Laboratory Biosafety (2020), COVID-19 Baseline Testing (2020), and Mentorship (HMS RCR) (2020).
