Mark Bayliss

Chief Scientific Officer at Virscidian

Mark Bayliss has worked in the scientific analytical chemistry field for over 20 years. Mark began their career in 1995 as an Application Scientist at Waters, where they were responsible for single and triple quadrupole demonstrations, customer training, and rapid chromatographic method development. In 1998, they moved to Thermo Electron as a Mass Spectrometry Product Manager, where they managed single and triple quadrupole instrumentation and associated software applications. Mark then joined Advanced Chemistry Development (ACD/Labs) in 2002, where they held various roles, including Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, Director of Development and Professional Services, and Mass Spectrometry Product Manager. In 2009, they became the Chief Scientific Officer at Virscidian, Inc., a specialist scientific analytical chemistry workflow solutions software company. In this role, they were responsible for delivering solutions to increase result accuracy, reliability, and consistency, as well as reduce total cost of ownership, sample costs, and time to result.

Mark Bayliss completed a PhD in Mass Spectrometry at Swansea University from 1990 to 1993. Prior to that, they obtained a CPSA in Pharmaceutical & Chemical Analysis from the University of Sunderland between 1987 and 1991. In 1998, they also obtained a MRSC cChem certification from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
