Catherine Metzgar, PhD, RD has a diverse work experience that includes roles in coaching operations and clinical division leadership at Virta Health, an online specialty medical clinic that focuses on reversing type 2 diabetes. Catherine also worked as an adjunct instructor at Lord Fairfax Community College and as a PhD student/graduate research assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Penn State University. In addition, they gained practical experience as a dietetic intern at Penn State University and The Hershey Company. Catherine has also held positions at K-State Recreational Services and K-State Research & Extension, where they served as a certified personal trainer, nutrition consultant, weight room attendant, and intern.
Catherine Metzgar, PhD, RD has a strong educational background in the field of Nutrition. Catherine began their education at Kansas State University, where they obtained a degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Kinesiology with honors (Cum Laude) in 2010. Following this, they completed a Dietetic Internship at Penn State University from 2010 to 2011. Catherine then pursued their interest in Nutritional Sciences at Penn State University and graduated in 2013.
Continuing to expand their knowledge, Catherine pursued a higher degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2013 to 2016, earning their PhD in the field. Additionally, they obtained their certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in August 2011.
