Dr. Caracappa is a Certified Health Physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, with over 20 years of experience in the field of Radiation Safety. He is currently the Chief Radiation Safety Officer and Executive Director of Radiation Safety Programs at Columbia University, and an Adjunct Professor in the Medical Physics program, Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics. In his role as the RSO, Dr. Caracappa has responsibility for broad-scope clinical and research licenses for radioactive material and radiation-producing equipment, a large cyclotron facility, and permits for medical and research x-ray equipment use.
