Matthew Fisher

Matthew Fisher currently serves as VP of UK & Ireland Government Affairs at Visa, a position held since November 2025. Prior experience includes leading policy efforts at Watershed as Head of Policy (May 2022 - November 2025) and directing public policy and ESG initiatives at Monzo Bank (June 2019 - May 2022). Fisher also played a crucial role in the UK government's negotiations for Brexit while at the Department for Exiting the European Union, where responsibilities included heading the meaningful vote team and serving as Senior Private Secretary to the Secretary of State. Prior to that, Fisher contributed to financial services policy at HM Treasury and represented UK interests in financial services negotiations in Brussels. Additional experience includes roles at the Office of Fair Trading and engagement in critical regulatory reforms, such as the LIBOR scandal response and the Capital Markets Union project.
