Michael Berner

Michael Berner is an experienced professional in the financial services sector, currently serving as the Group Country Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa at Visa since November 2019. Previously, Michael held various leadership roles at Visa, including Group Country Manager for Russia and CEMEA Head of Merchant Sales and Acceptance. Prior to joining Visa, Michael worked at Citi from February 2003 to October 2019, where roles included Managing Director and Country Consumer Business Manager for Citi Russia, as well as Directorships in Consumer Lending and Credit Cards. Michael’s career began at DialogBank, where marketing responsibilities were undertaken from 1997 to 2002. Additionally, Michael has enhanced professional expertise with executive education programs at Columbia Business School and the University of California, Berkeley, both completed in 2017.
