Mark Stolowitz

Mark Stolowitz has extensive experience in the field of life sciences and bioanalytical instruments. Mark is currently serving as the Chief Science Officer at VisiCELL Medical Inc. which they joined in 2020. Prior to this, they held various roles at the Canary Center at Stanford for Cancer Early Detection, including Deputy Director for Operations and Director of the Proteomics Core Facility. Mark worked at the center from 2009 until 2016. Mark also served as Deputy Director for Operations at the Stanford University School of Medicine from 2016 to 2023. Before joining Stanford, Mark was the Chief Science Officer at Stratos Biosystems LLC from 2003 to 2009, where they spearheaded the conception and development of life sciences research tools. Prior to that, they worked as Vice President of Biochip Technologies at LumiCyte Inc. from 2001 to 2003, and as Vice President and Chief Science Officer at Prolinx Inc. from 1994 to 2001. Mark was also a Group Leader in Protein Microsequencing at the California Institute of Technology from 1989 to 1993. Throughout their career, Mark has demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing innovative technologies, leading research and development teams, and managing various aspects of operations and strategic planning.

Mark Stolowitz began their education at the University of the Pacific, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Mark continued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Following this, they attended the University of California, Davis - School of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Scholar, specializing in Biochemistry, from 1981 to 1983. Later on, from 2006 to 2008, Mark became a Visiting Scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, focusing on Proteomics and Biomarker Discovery.
