Julian Rait Oam Faicd

Julian Rait OAM FAICD is an experienced leader in the fields of ophthalmology and medical advocacy, currently serving as Deputy Chair and Director at Vision Australia since October 2019. Rait holds a position on the National Advocacy Stakeholder Committee at Avant Mutual since March 2019 and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in January 2018 for contributions to ophthalmology and overseas aid development. An Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne since August 2005, Rait has also held various leadership roles within the Australian Medical Association, including Chair of the Federal Council and President of the Victorian branch. Additional experience includes chairing Anglican Overseas Aid and Sovereign Healthcare Pty Ltd, as well as serving as President of MDA National. Rait's educational background includes prestigious qualifications in medicine and surgery from the University of Melbourne, and specialist training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
