A talented consultant with deep and varied higher ed experience, Matt Walters wears several hats at VisionPoint. As Vice President of Strategy and a member of the company’s leadership team, Matt represents VisionPoint in the formation of new business partnerships and oversees many of the company’s operational processes.

Matt is passionate not only about VisionPoint’s mission but about the educational mission of their clients. He’s a great listener and an insightful analyst, and his clients will tell you he’s especially good at shaping nuanced strategies to achieve their biggest, most ambitious goals. “I was blessed to enjoy some tremendous educational opportunities, so I know firsthand the power of higher education to shape a person’s future,” says Matt. “There’s nothing I enjoy more than getting to pay that forward by helping schools identify and articulate the particular strengths that flavor their brand promise, and then deliver that promise to right-fit students who stand to gain as much from their educational experience as I did.”

As any of his colleagues will readily attest, Matt lives with the aim of making the world around him a better place and making every interaction he has a positive one. He is one of VisionPoint’s best brand ambassadors, invited to speak at conferences around the country on content strategy, integrated marketing, and website governance, among many other topics.

Before joining the VisionPoint team, Matt earned his M.A. in English from the University of Tennessee, winning awards for teaching and for his work in the writing center. He holds a B.A. in English from Gardner-Webb University. After grad school, he returned to Gardner-Webb, where he served in several roles including major gifts officer, special initiatives director, executive communications director and adjunct English instructor. His insider appreciation for stakeholder perspectives across the educational landscape makes him an excellent consultant for VisionPoint’s clients.
