Gary Wheat, CMTP

Gary Wheat has a diverse work experience in the field of tourism and hospitality. Gary started their career in 1994 as an Assistant Media Relations Director at Virginia Tech Athletics, where they worked until 1999. Gary then served as the Executive Director of the Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau from 2004 to 2007, followed by a similar role at the South Bend/Mishawaka Convention and Visitors Bureau in 2007-2008. In 2008, they became the Executive Director of the Longmont Area Visitors Association, and in 2010, they took on the role of President/CEO at Visit Aurora, Inc., marketing Aurora, Colorado as a tourist destination. Gary worked there until 2016. In 2017, Wheat became the President/CEO of the Macon Convention & Visitors Bureau. In 2019, they also became an Advisor at AdvisoryCloud.

Gary Wheat, CMTP has a Masters of Science in Coaching and Sports Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi, which they obtained from 1989 to 1994.
