Maria Ek has extensive experience in event and communication strategies, currently serving as Event- och Kommunikationsstrateg and Kommunikationsansvarig Visita Västra at Visita - Svensk besöksnäring since January 2013. Prior to this role, Maria worked at West Sweden Chamber of Commerce from November 2008 to December 2012 as Ansvarig Affärsnätverket Next&Now. Maria's earlier positions include a focus on Kompetensförsörjning at Västsvenska Handelskammaren from 2001 to 2007 and Privatrådgivning at Sparbanken Alingsås between June 1997 and August 2001. Maria holds a Master’s degree in Economic, Marketing from the University of Borås, obtained from 1997 to 2001.

Visita represents approximately 7,000 hotels, restaurants and other enterprises in the Swedish hospitality sector. As a sector and employer's organisation, we can help you with issues that are time-consuming or difficult to get involved in, thus making it easier for you to manage your business. We provide information and free legal advice, sign collective agreements on behalf of the sector and represent our members in their contacts with unions, public authorities and politicians.
