Kela Powers has a diverse work experience. Kela started their career in 2010 with International Paper, where they worked on marketing research for their newly acquired division in Mexico. Kela then joined Chapman University as an Annual Giving Assistant, where they managed client accounts and fostered relationships with major donors. In 2011, Kela joined Teach for America as a Corps Member, teaching Science and Writing to third through fifth grade students and analyzing data to create intervention groups. Kela later joined Vista College Prep, where they held various roles including Founding Manager of Operations, Founding Director of Operations, and currently, Senior Director of Student Recruitment.

Kela Powers started their education at Chapman University in 2007, where they completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on International Business, Marketing, and Spanish in 2011. During their time at Chapman, they also participated in a semester abroad program at Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina 'Santa María de los Buenos Aires' in 2008, where they studied Spanish Language, Literature, and International Business. Following their undergraduate studies, Kela pursued a Master's degree in Education at Arizona State University, specializing in Elementary Education and Teaching from 2011 to 2013.
