Vanessa Raue

Vanessa Raue is currently a Consultant at Vista Iowa. Vanessa previously worked as the Payroll/Benefits Manager at Cedar Rapids Community School District from June 2008 to December 2016. Vanessa was responsible for managing a department of six employees who were responsible for a weekly payroll of over three million dollars. Vanessa was also responsible for approximately 85% of the District’s $250 million dollar budget as it processed through the Payroll/Benefits Department.

Vanessa supervised and coordinated controls, audit data and filing of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns including preparing annual W-2’s and 1095 B/C forms. Vanessa also oversaw the reconciliation of payroll and benefit general ledger accounts while working closely with the Accounting Department. Vanessa executed and provided technical expertise for annual fiscal salary and benefit updates for over 4000 employees.

During their time at Cedar Rapids Community School District, Vanessa implemented a new payroll system and a new automated electronic time-keeping system. Vanessa also researched and instigated new policies regarding Affordable Care act tracking and administration. Vanessa provided Benefit and Payroll expertise to senior management team including costing of salaries and benefit packages. Vanessa advised the Board of Education on revising or adding new policies related to Payroll and Benefits. Vanessa also implemented new efficiency standards to streamline processes and become paperless. Vanessa monitored timely and accurate filing of weekly payroll tax deposits and ongoing benefit payments including IPERS.

Vanessa Raue has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Dubuque. Vanessa also has a BBA in Accounting from Mount Mercy College and an Accounting degree from Kirkwood Community College. Vanessa is also certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners in School Business Official Authorization.
