Asher Schachter

Vice President, Translational Medicine at Visterra Inc.

Asher Schachter has extensive experience in the field of translational medicine, specifically in the areas of kidney, liver/metabolic, muscle, hematology, and neurology diseases.

In their most recent role as Vice President of Translational Medicine at Visterra Inc., Asher is responsible for leading the strategic development of medical programs.

Prior to their current position, they served as Sr. Vice President of Translational Medicine at CAMP4 Therapeutics. In this role, they led the medical strategy for various disease areas and oversaw multiple preclinical disease/gene programs.

Asher conducted research and clinical teaching in these roles. Additionally, they worked as an Attending Physician in Pediatric Nephrology at Boston Children's Hospital, where they focused on translational research in kidney diseases and served as a principal investigator for funded research projects.

Asher also gained industry insights and knowledge by being a Visiting Fellow at the MIT Sloan School of Management, specifically in the Program on the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Asher began their medical career as a Resident in Pediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children.

Asher Schachter completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Medical Informatics- Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) degree in Clinical Investigator Training Program- Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) from Harvard University between 1999 and 2001. In 1988, they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from the University of Toronto.

In terms of additional certifications, Asher Schachter holds a Diplomat in Pediatric Nephrology from the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and a Fellowship (FRCP) specialist certificate in Pediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
