Dag Arne Brænd has a range of work experience spanning over several decades. Dag Arne began their career in 1985 as a Research Assistant at NTH, where they focused on developing numerical algorithms for solving complex equations related to electrical activity in the brain.
In 1987, Brænd joined Metron, where they served as the Manager of Development. During their time there, they contributed to the development of instrumentation for quality control in hospitals and created a database management system for medical equipment. One of their notable achievements was the creation of a completely automated Infusion Pump Tester.
From 1993 to 1999, Brænd worked at Seatex Kongsberg as a Project Manager. In this role, they designed, sold, developed, and deployed cutting-edge navigation systems, including one for the Norwegian Navy Stridsbåt 90 and another for the inspection of the subsea Troll gas tunnel.
Next, Brænd joined Fugro OCEANOR AS in 1999 as a Senior Software Design Engineer. Here, they served as the Chief Architect for the implementation of real-time system software for oceanographic data monitoring. Dag Arne successfully designed a new architecture based on the QNX embedded real-time kernel, which was utilized in the next generation of Oceanor oceanographic buoys.
In 2000, Brænd moved to Atmel Norway, where they held the position of Atmel MCU Tools Sr. Director. During their tenure, they managed the development, manufacturing, and distribution of Atmel 8 and 32-bit Micro-controller HW and SW Development Tools. Dag Arne also led the development and maintenance of SW development tools used by over 100,000 people worldwide.
From 2014 to 2018, Brænd served as the COO of Novelda AS. In this role, they were responsible for various aspects of the company, including PCBA manufacturing and logistics, radar solutions software development, and radar modules and toolkit development. Dag Arne oversaw the establishment of a manufacturing and logistics operation in Penang, Malaysia, and implemented SAP B1 as an Enterprise Resource Planning system for the entire company.
Following their time at Novelda AS, Brænd worked at Mode Sensors from 2018 to 2021 as the COO. Here, they took charge of industrialization, manufacturing, logistics, and business development. Dag Arne implemented ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and EU MDR compliant QMS systems and secured a manufacturing contract with a premier medical-approved electronics manufacturer. Brænd also implemented agile development methodologies and frameworks and executed the build of multiple prototype product series.
Currently, Brænd serves as the COO Vital Things at Somnofy.com, a position they have held since 2021.
Dag Arne Brænd obtained a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from NTH, where they studied from 1980 to 1984. Prior to their enrollment at NTH, they completed a one-year study in International Economics and Politics at Follo Folkehøgskole from 1979 to 1980.
