Benny Johnson has over two decades of experience in research and development, particularly in the field of education technology. Currently, they serve as the Senior Director of Learning Science at VitalSource, where they lead a team responsible for the research and development of intelligent textbook initiatives. Benny has also held the position of Director of Research and Development at both VitalSource and its subsidiary, Acrobatiq by VitalSource. In these roles, Benny focused on creating and implementing innovative solutions using machine learning models, data-driven analysis, and rigorous evaluation methods. Prior to joining VitalSource, they were the President of Quantum Simulations, Inc., where they led the development and commercialization of intelligent tutoring systems. Benny also co-founded Q-Chem, Inc. and served as its President, overseeing the development of high-performance simulation software for chemistry. Throughout their career, Benny has secured significant research funding and has published their findings in academic journals and conferences.
Benny Johnson holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Theoretical Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University, which they obtained from 1989 to 1993. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry and Mathematics at the University of Kentucky from 1985 to 1989.
