Tristan Lutgen is currently an Application Developer at VizyPay. Prior to this, they worked as a software development intern at the Iowa Legislature from May 2021 to August 2021. In this role, they completed back-end development based on specifications requested through ServiceHub. This involved modifying existing systems used by the Iowa State Legislative Agency to create new applications and Java classes. Tristan also contributed to a positive team culture through open collaboration and communication with co-workers. Tristan increased their knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming, and legacy systems by conducting independent online research and learning from mentors and peers. Tristan worked with Java classes, methods, lists, comparators, helpers, exceptions, and objects to enhance the runtime and efficiency of code. Tristan resolved bugs, made improvements, and delivered feature requests on demand; logging information using Git for changes and versioning. Tristan also improved overall user experience and provided increased functionality - making changes to the application user interface, improving state employees' functionality when updating legislative bills. Tristan also worked with HTML, CSS, and Java to update content on the Iowa State Legislative website. Lastly, they handled data and data tables using Microsoft SQL Server to update information going between the agency and consumers.

Tristan Lutgen received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with an Emphasis on Software Development from the University of Northern Iowa.
